Connected by a River
Oil on wood panel

The numerous rivers that feed the Sacramento Delta have undergone massive changes over the last several decades from dams and other alterations that have changed the rivers’ natural course, flow and hydrology. Two of the largest rivers, the Sacramento and San Joaquin, are the focus of my studies within this series.

Green Sturgeon and Smith's Blue Butterfly, depicted here, are just two of the many species whose habitat and population numbers have been affected by dams in the region.
